Cornering Lamps Explained

Cornering lamps are supplementary lights on your vehicle that illuminate the road to the side when you make a turn or navigate a tight corner.

What They Are

Auxiliary lights designed to improve visibility during sharp turns, low‑speed maneuvers, or reversing in dark conditions.

Why They Matter

• Safety: Reveal curbs, pedestrians, or hidden obstacles.

• Convenience: Make tight cornering easier at night.

• Confidence: Provide better awareness in urban or poorly lit areas.

How They Work

• Activation: Triggered automatically when the turn signal is used, the vehicle is in reverse, or the steering wheel is turned sharply.

• Control module: Monitors speed, steering angle, and signal input.

• Operation types:

  • Static cornering lights: A dedicated lamp (or fog light) turns on inside the bend, shining up to 90° sideways.

  • Dynamic cornering lights (in some models): Headlights swivel to follow the steering angle.
