Can I look up a paint code using a license plate?

In many cases, a license plate and its issuing state or province can identify the associated vehicle. If the available plate data is not sufficient, Partify may request the 17-character VIN.

Is a paint code the same as a color name?

No. A marketing color name may be reused or may describe several formulations. The manufacturer paint code is a more specific identifier for the factory finish, although one paint code can still have multiple variants.

Why might one paint code have more than one variant?
